Our team participated in the architectural competition for the renovation, extension and the redesign of the outdoor facilities of the Goethe-Institut in Bogotá / Colombia. In cooperation with local experts, we proposed to restore the building to its original state whilst also meeting functional requirements. All existing façades will be retained or restored to their original condition. The extension complements the existing building in terms of volume and façade design. For the single-storey part, we envision a monopitch roof that mirrors the roof of the existing garages. The two-storey building will have a flat green roof. Both buildings are defined by a simple and modern design that enables the harmonization with the existing building. For the fully enclosed garden area, we have proposed a careful design with local plants and materials. We envisage both larger, paved open areas as well as small intimate niches.
